August 6, 2002. Ok, finally! Pictures!

Here's the sweater, flat on the floor (this is the only picture where you can see the pattern, kinda):
flattened raglan

Here's the back of the sweater:
I can't believe I'm showing my butt on the internet

And here's the front of the sweater:

For some reason this picture makes it look kind of dumpy, but I swear it's really flattering. It looks a lot more casual than I was expecting it to, but it's the perfect sweater to throw on over a t-shirt on a chilly summer evening. I've already worn it a bunch of times.

Make sure you admire that beautiful quilt behind me! My mother-in-law made it for us as a wedding present. The pattern is called "Chinese Coins." I adore it.

July 3, 2002. Sweater done! Picture to come soon.

June 15, 2002. I finished knitting the back of the sweater two days ago, and am now 20% done with the front. I'm hoping to get large portions of the front done this weekend, but since I tend to greatly overestimate my knitting speed, we'll see what ends up getting done.

June 11, 2002. I'm a much slower knitter than I thought I was. I figured, with 5 hours on a train to and from Boston, I should be able to finish the back of the sweater and get halfway through the front. About two hours into knitting, I realized this was a ridiculous goal. I ended up almost finishing the back. Still, 5 hours of knitting is 5 hours of knitting, and it was fun to do it on a train. I had a minor setback when I thought I didn't understand the directions for the raglan decreases, but I mapped it out on a piece of paper row-by-row, and then it made sense. I'm worried that the sweater will be longer than I thought it would be, and will end up being less-than-flattering, but I'm just going to keep forging ahead, since this is going pretty quickly anyway. If it doesn't look good on me, then maybe it will be a lesson on choosing flattering patterns, not just patterns that look well-matched to my skill level.

June 9, 2002. I'm about a third of the way done on the back of the sweater. It's going pretty quickly. I really like this Berroco Pronto. It knits up very fast, and the finished fabric feels kind of spongy (but in a good way). I'm fascinated by yarn so bulky that it doesn't roll in stockinette stitch (the hooded baby towel was this way too). You can't really see much in this picture.
