Small Square Journal |

When I made the star journal, I cut the lined paper down so that it would be a neater size. I decided to use the cut-off part to make a smaller journal. I really like the size of this small one. It would be perfect for writing down to-do lists, or trying out a poem-a-day project. |

Here's the cover. I'm not too thrilled with the way the knitted piece came out, though I like the idea. I had some trouble with the fair isle on this. I initially did it as intarsia, and that was a complete mess. But I think I should have woven in the strands, because when I left them hanging, they pulled a little tightly in the back and skewed the shape. I just cut them all and tried to stretch this, but it didn't work as well as I'd hoped. (One huge advantage of knitting things that are going to be glued to the front of books is that you don't have to worry about weaving in any ends; you can just glue them under.) If you stand far away and squint, you can sort of pretend this is supposed to be a jaunty throw pillow on the cover. |

I used the rubber stamp I'd made for the star journal to make the endpapers for this one too. |

Here's what the paper looks like on the inside. I like the margin on the top, so you could have space for titles for each little list, or for the titles of your daily poems. |
